July 18, 2009 4:42:01 PM PDT
A plane came to a crash landing in the back yard of a home in La Porte Saturday. The pilot told officials that he took off from the La Porte Airport. He says his single-engine plane failed to gain altitude and clipped the top of some pine trees. The plane came down in the back yard of a home in the 10,600 block of North H Street.

The pilot appeared to have suffered head trauma and complained of pain in his right leg. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. At this point, we don't know his condition.

The FAA and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene with the FAA investigating the accident.
