Eversole has no plans to resign

HOUSTON The fine was $75,000. Eversole also paid back $41,000 of his own money amidst evidence he misused campaign funds, including a $10,000 vacation to Florida.

"They didn't convict me of stealing any money. They didn't convict me of anything other than sloppy record keeping. That's it. Why should I resign over that?" asked Eversole. "You know why they gave me a reasonable fine of $75,000? Because I have enough money in my campaign to pay for it."

Eversole's latest campaign report shows he had $1.8 million in campaign cash. The embattled commissioner is also under FBI investigation.
