July 10, 2009 6:12:34 AM PDT
Later today, community activists will be sounding off about a southeast Houston billboard claiming Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. was a RepublicanSome African-American leaders in Houston are calling the billboard along the South Loop and MLK a lie, or deceitful at best. According to the Houston Chronicle, the billboard is sponsored by a black conservative group called "The Raging Elephants".

One of doctor king's nieces, Alveda King, has long insisted her uncle was a Republican, but his son says his father would never have voted Republican.

Some activists are calling for the billboard to be taken down, but others say it's free speech. We'll bring you any new developments with this story.
