Pet Airways ready to take flight

HOUSTON Pet Airways starts service next week. It's estimated that one million pets travel every year. Alissa Binder and her husband got the idea after a cross-country flight with their aging dog riding in the cargo bay. They were worried the entire flight, so they developed the idea.

The animals are called "pawsengers" and a veterinarian watches the animals on the flight. Owners say it's a relief.

"I would be a wreck if I had to wait in baggage claim for them to come out at the end," said pet owner Amanda Hickey.

Service is starting in five cities: New York, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles. Tickets are $149. They're already booked for the next two months.
