The chase began in the area of Airline and I-45 around 1:30am when a driver failed to stop for a traffic violation. The two men inside the vehicle led police on a high speed chase for several minutes.

The situation took a dramatic turn when the suspect turned off of Airline onto Soren and then into O'Donnell, which is where the suspect crashed into a tree. That tree is just a few steps away from a homeowner's front door.

"It's about the second car, third car this year alone that wounded up in our yard," said homeowner Roy Cisneros.

The owner says in the 37 years he's lived in the house, this is the ninth crash that has happened near his home.

The two men in the vehicle had to be extracted from the smashed vehicle. They were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The driver did reportedly tell authorities he ran from the officer because he had outstanding warrants.
