Aerial fireworks ban in effect

July 4, 2009 9:03:06 AM PDT
As a result of the hot dry conditions, there's a burn ban in effect for this Fourth of July weekend and some fireworks are off limits. There are two types of aerial fireworks that are banned in Texas: rockets with sticks and any missile fireworks with wings.

All other fireworks are allowed in unincorporated Harris County. All fireworks are illegal in the city of Houston. Fire officials suggest the safest way to celebrate Independence Day is as a spectator.
