Connection between break-in and hospital visit?

HOUSTON Police say a burglar tried to break in to an apartment on Long Reach Drive near William's Trace, but a person inside opened fire. The burglar took off.

A man with a gunshot wound was later found nearby and taken to a hospital. They're looking into whether the cases are connected.
