Major wreck knocks out power

HOUSTON He was apparently speeding when he lost control of his car at Parker and Airline at around 2:30am. The vehicle went off the road, hit a ditch and wound up wrapped around a power pole. The crash knocked out power to about 200 nearby customers. CenterPoint Energy crews worked to restore electricity.

It took firefighters more than an hour to get the driver out because they had to deal with a broken gas meter, downed power lines and a transformer leaking oil on top of them. The man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.
