Houstonians honor slain guard

HOUSTON The memorial service included speeches from Reverend Bill Lawson of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church and Fred Zeidman, the chairman the US Holocaust Memorial Council. A local woman who spent time in Nazi concentration camp said security guard Stephen Johns lost his life defending a sacred place of remembrance.

Ruth Steinfeld with the Council of Jewish Holocaust Survivors said, "Here it is 65 years after the holocaust and we're still fighting violence and hatred in this, our beautiful country, America."

Accused white supremacist James Von Brunn faces a charge of first degree murder for Johns' death.
