Results out on HS TAKS tests

HOUSTON The state says nearly one in seven high school seniors from the class of 2009 failed one or more sections of the state's graduation test, and did not receive a diploma. That's up slightly from last year.

The state is set to phase in a series of 12 end of course exams during the 2011-12 school year. Under the bill passed in the legislature, students would have to get an average passing grade on the three tests in each subject area to earn a diploma.
