Traveling warehouse offers big savings

If your skinny jeans are too tight, you don't need to spend big bucks for a new pair, thanks to a "traveling warehouse" that's bringing a big sale to Houston. Seven, Lucky, True Religion -- the big names in denim are on sale this weekend in the ballroom of the Westin Galleria. Most name brands are at least 50 percent off retail.

The racks are full and the discounts are steep. This traveling warehouse sale stops in Houston a couple of times a year and will be here until Monday night.

Dana Tarbert has been to the traveling warehouse sale before and knows not to wait.

"Usually we are here the last couple of days and the selection is picked through, so today we decided to come on the first day and see how everything was going to be this time," Tarbert said.

So how good are the deals? Seven jeans are going for $100, True Religion jeans are also $100, and Lucky Brand jeans are $50. That's roughly half off retail and enough to bring out dozens of shoppers as soon as the sale opened at noon on Friday.

"I would say it is like outlet pricing, but it is not last year's style or selection that you typically get at an outlet," Tarbert said. "They are very good as far as value goes."

Anna Do agrees. She picked out five pairs of jeans and says she saved big.

"I bought five pairs of jeans and I did awesome," Do said. "It was only $370 [total], and regular price would have been $200 each, so I found Monarchy and True Religion and Seven jeans were a really good deal."

Sale mangers say they buy the items from manufacturers and can pass the savings along to customers.

"[They are] sample items," sale manager Kenneth Atman said. "We have new stuff, and we have overstock items, which is last season's stuff, but we have current stuff, too, that are canceled orders, so if a store canceled orders from the manufacturer, we buy it from them."

There is also men's clothing available, and while jeans dominate the sale, it is possible to find t-shirts, hoodies and much more as well.

"We carry everything from casual dress to evening wear to club wear," Atman said.

For example, a Christine Audinger party dress that runs over $400 dollars is only $80 at the sale.

The organizers charge $25 to get in, but if you mention ABC 13 you can get in for free. Mention ABC13 again at checkout for an extra 10 percent discount.

There's a big sign that says all sales are final, so try on everything first. There are dressing rooms on site so you can find the right fit before you buy.

The sale runs from 12 PM to 8 PM, starting Friday, June 5 through Monday, June 8.
