A Houston police officer is in critical condition after two drivers slammed into his patrol car. It happened early Saturday morning on the southbound main lanes of the Gulf Freeway at Cullen. The Gulf Freeway was shut down for hours following the wreck.

Police say two drivers slammed into a patrol car that was parked at an accident scene. The second crash caused the patrol car to run over the officer and pin him. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. The victim has been identified as Officer Lloyd Morrison.

Police arrested and charged the two drivers.
