Arrests made in frat hazing death

May 21, 2009 1:19:14 PM PDT
Police in San Luis Obispo, Calif., today announced arrests in the December fraternity hazing death of a university student from Texas. Police say the arrestees are being criminally charged for involvement in the death of 18-year-old Carson Starkey of Austin.

Authorities have said the California Polytechnic State University student died while being initiated into the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Autopsy results showed Starkey's blood-alcohol levels reached at least 0.39 percent. California's legal driving limit for blood-alcohol is 0.08 percent -- the same as Texas.

The fraternity has already been suspended.
