Large cylinder injures welders

May 20, 2009 10:15:21 AM PDT
Several workers were injured during an accident at a welding company in Freeport. A large cylinder somehow became dislodged from its mounting at Freeport Welding Company while the men were working on it, injuring four workers. Some of the men were inside the cylinder itself, while others were outside as it came loose.

"We have four people that were seriously injured," said Freeport Police Chief Jeff Pynes. "We have three Life Flight (helicopters) on the scene. Three have been transported, and one by ambulance."

The extent of the workers' injuries are not known. An investigation into the accident is underway.
