The fire broke early this morning at a home on Susanna near Vinewood. The homeowner woke up to the smell of smoke in his bedroom. He went into the kitchen and saw the flames rising to the ceiling. He screamed for his wife and children.

"I wake up my wife and my kids, I say 'get out of the house' because I see a lot of smoke and I heard noise inside of the roof," said homeowner Juan Yilote.

The kitchen and the attic sustained heavy fire damage. There's also smoke damage throughout the home. Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
