Child, 1, run over and killed by mother

It happened around 10am today at the Oaks of Baytown apartments in the 2,000 block of Ward Road. According to Baytown police, the child had fallen out of the mother's vehicle as she drove through the apartment complex parking lot. That child was taken to San Jacinto Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The mother was transported to Ben Taub Hospital for injuries she sustained as she exited the moving vehicle to get to her child. We don't have word on her condition.

Baytown Police, along with the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office, are currently investigating this case.
