They say he drove off of a road and struck a house around 9:30 a.m. Monday. His 45-year-old wife, Linda Hosler, died at a hospital.
Troopers say Sonnenmeier had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
He was treated for minor injuries and is free on $5,000 cash bail pending an appearance in Pendleton Town Court Wednesday. Court officials say Tuesday he doesn't yet have a lawyer.
