Three-alarm fire breaks out in midtown

Crews arrived at the two-story building on Smith around midnight to find smoke coming from the second floor. Firefighters went in to the burning building to look for possible victims and then went into defensive mode.

"I'm being told that this was an old house and that was renovated into a commercial occupancy. It was built with very heavy temper. Once that gets going it's pretty difficult to extinguish but we did get in and firefighters made a great knockdown," District Chief Omero Longoria with the Houston Fire Department

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
