Female robbers attack women shoppers

Police think the women, there may be as many as three, are responsible for at least four attacks at shopping centers in Webster and Houston.

Police say they have linked at least four reports to a group of women. They say the women are getting more brazen as they attack victims in the parking lot. The latest victim had to go to the hospital.

Julie Ng says she did not sleep at all last night.

"They just came out and said, 'Give me your purse,'" said Ng.

Ng was in the parking lot of a Webster area store Monday afternoon when she says two women got out of a car and cornered her.

"My instinct was to hold onto the purse and then she hit me with a club," said Ng.

As the tug-of-war went on, Ng says the thieves took another strike at her head.

"It wasn't big at all, but it was enough to give me a good whack," said Ng.

When Ng let go of her purse, the female robbers ran. She had blood all over her.

"I was trying to run and the whole time I'm screaming for help, but there's nobody," said Ng.

Webster police believe that is part of the team's mode of operations, to wait until there are few witnesses.

"Women should take this very seriously. The fact that the assaults are becoming more and more brazen leads me to believe that we have some dangerous criminals out there. Women need to be on the lookout," said Deputy Chief Thomas Claunch of the Webster Police Department.

Police believe at least four crimes are related, three in Webster and one in nearby Houston. Investigators say each one has happened in broad daylight and in the parking lot of a popular shopping spot.

"It you see something that you might think is suspicious, call us because we want to catch these criminals," said Claunch.

Ng feels lucky her injuries were not more serious, but with seven staples in her head, she says she doesn't want this to happen to anyone else.

"Just pay attention. Don't do what I did and walk to your car like nothing's going on," said Ng.

Police say they do not have a description of a car because they don't know if the suspects are changing vehicles or if the suspects have gotten away so quickly that the victims haven't had a chance to look.

The suspects are both black females. The first suspect is described as 18-25 years of age, approximately 5' to 5'6"tall, weighing 115-120 pounds, with a "wild looking unbraided Afro" hairstyle. The second suspect is described as being in her 40's, approximately 5'6", and weighing 125-135 pounds, also with a "wild looking unbraided Afro" hairstyle.

If you can help find the women responsible for these crimes, you're asked to call Webster police at 281-332-2426. Or you can dial Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
