Robinson, Ryans unhappy with contracts

These are two of the three best players on defense. Robinson turned down the team's long-term contract offer and was given the franchise tag which means he gets a one-year deal at the average salary of the top five players at his position. Robinson said GM Rick Smith told him he wouldn't be franchised.

Ryans is under contract and extension talks haven't been successful. Neither Ryans nor Robinson have made any threats to hold out during the season.

Texans' owner Bob McNair says he thinks the team has been fair.
