The inaugural Qatar Airways flight arrived Monday. The airline says the flight represented the first of daily non-stop flights to Houston from Qatar, which the carrier calls the world's longest non-stop flight.
The CEO of Qatar Airways views Houston as a major destination for people in his country, for a variety of reasons.
"It is a destination which will be for oil, for medical, for education and, of course, for leisure," said Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker.
Qatar Airways plans to offer three daily flights between Qatar and airports in Houston, New York City and Washington.
