Beach nourishment project nearly complete

GALVESTON, TX [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

Crews have been moving sand from East Beach and Stewart Beach to the Seawall between 17th and 61st Streets. It took crews several months to collect the sand from nearby beaches.

The amount of sand involved was 500,000 cubic yards and the project cost $12 million.
