The Ministry Justice wants Harris County DA Pat Lykos to fire two prosecutors she says removed every black member of the jury pool for the murder trial of a black defendant.

Lykos talked about the incident last week on Eyewitness News. Lykos says when Mark Donnelly and Rifian Newaz picked a jury for the murder trial of Ricky Whitfield, they struck seven blacks from the jury pool.

Whitfield's lawyer objected, and the judge agreed, dismissing the jury. Lykos removed them from the courtroom and docked their pay.

Lykos' move has drawn criticism from some of her own staff for taking this public, but she says she wants to bring respectability to an office hit by recent scandals.
