Gun fired in school restroom

According to Cy-Fair ISD officials, two boys who attend Cypress Ridge High School had a gun in the boys' restroom about 30 minutes before school began when the gun went off. It doesn't appear that the boys were fighting. There were no other students in the restroom and no one was injured.

The gun was confiscated by a Harris County Precinct Four Constable assigned to the campus and the boys were apprehended. Possession of a firearm on school property violates federal law and students will face criminal charges and also receive disciplinary consequences, according to the school's principal.

A letter was sent to parents informing them of the situation.
