San Jacinto College sent out the warning. People claiming to represent the US Education Department are offering scholarships and grants. The callers ask for a bank or credit card number for a $249 processing fee, but the call is a fake. Students are not charged a fee for educational grants.

San Jacinto College says they have not heard of any victims so far, but if you receive a similar call, you can report it to the inspector general by calling 1-800-MIS-USED.
