Westside robberies may be linked

Houston police are working to see if they can link one or more suspects to several robberies on the west side. They refused to answer questions about the cases though and said they are at a critical point in their investigation.

The latest west side robbery happened Saturday night at a nail salon near Westheimer and Wilcrest.

One eyewitness said two suspects, at least one of them armed, came in to the shop and ordered everyone to the floor. The victim said the suspect fired his gun without striking anyone and that the suspects left after taking money and purses.

"It's scary because I'm here by myself with my mother," said neighboring business owner Vy Le.

Le who owns an alterations shop right next door from the nail salon said there needs to be more police patrolling the area so she doesn't have to keep locking her doors all day.

"For everyone who comes in, we just run to open the door. I keep that way just to be sure," said Le.

The robbery has many on edge because it's not the first of late in the area. Both the Le Viet restaurant and Slick Willie's pool hall were robbed in late January.

Police said those cases could be related. In each, two suspects similarly entered with guns drawn and forced everyone to the floor while demanding valuables.
