San Jacinto College financial aid representatives will be on hand to help participants learn more about scholarships, loans and other forms of financial assistance and to provide help in filling out necessary forms.
"We urge all participants to bring a copy of key financial documents, including their 2008 federal income tax documents," commented Robert Merino, San Jacinto College's financial aid services director. "Our staff members will help students and their parents to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at no charge on the spot." The FAFSA is the only financial aid application accepted by the U.S. Department of Education.
The free workshops are part of a nationwide program in which Texas colleges began participating last year. The workshops bring together students and financial aid professionals with the tools needed to apply for money for college. Students who want to attend "College Goal Sunday" can pre-register online at https://financialaid.tamu.edu/cgs/ for a chance to win a free iPod.
