A group from the Bellville United Methodist Church was out yesterday cleaning up some of the debris. Rex Ward heads the Clear Creek Environmental Foundation. He says the volunteers have been key in turning what looks like a wasteland back into a place of beauty.
"The bottom line is it's not about whose supposed to pick this up, or whose responsible for that," he said. "The volunteers have come back and made their community a better place to live."
In the last five weeks, more than 500 people have volunteered for cleanup duty. More than 107 tons of trash have been removed from the area.
