Eleven of his babies were hatched today at the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. Henry is a tuatara, which resembles a lizard but has a distinct lineage that can be traced back to the era of the dinosaurs 225 million years ago.
Officials say Henry was a grumpy old man until a tumor was removed from his nether regions. Now, they hope Henry can be a regular part of the breeding program for his endangered species.
