Harris County Sheriff's Department investigators say two gunmen wearing bandanas over their faces stormed into the Wing Zone restaurant on FM 1960 and Sugar Pine in northwest Harris County just a few minutes before closing Friday night. They demanded at gunpoint that the safe be opened.

Employee Miguel Figueroa, 42, and an assistant manager were on duty at the time.

As one robber was collecting the cash, investigators say Figueroa was shot in the side. He later died at Ben Taub Hospital.

His death is shocking to those who work nearby.

"He used to come over here, always talks to me and always nice. He always says 'Hi, how are you?' He used to go here and there," said convenience store manager Fernanded India. "I'm certainly surprised. I mean he is a human being. You never know what might happen."

Investigators say they were able to connect Lloyd McCain to the case after his girlfriend reportedly told them he admitted being part of the crime. McCain is facing capital murder charges. The second suspect hasn't been caught.
