All of this happened at the Worthington Apartment complex on Greens Parkway near Ella on the north side. However, police may not be so sure everything happened the way the residents claim.

Residents told police that around 10pm Thursday, they returned to their apartment to find two men inside rummaging through their belongings. Police think the suspects broke in through a back window.

The residents say when they confronted the unwanted guests, they got into a fight over a gun. When it was all over, one of the suspects was dead.

"We believe it's the suspect's gun and there was a struggle at the scene," said R.D. Chandler with the Houston Police Department. "The gun was discharged and the suspect was struck."

That suspect later died.

A lot of questions remain in this case, including why the suspects chose the apartment they did to break into. The window they allegedly came through to get inside faces the street and is well lit.

Police are interviewing the residents for a second time, as there may be some holes in their story, though investigators have not told us what those holes are.

As for the second suspect, he ran out of the apartment and has not been seen since. Police believe he did get away with some things from inside.
