Around 1am, a security guard spotted two men who appeared to be holding up a couple in the parking lot. The security guard called in off-duty HPD officers.

"You've got two officers who were hired by the nightclub to patrol the nightclub and the parking lot, and then you've got two officers that were nearby," said Gabe Ortiz with the Houston Police Department. "Fortunately, we had enough officers out there that prevented a robbery from occurring."

When the four HPD officers approached, the suspects opened fire. The officers returned fire, but no one was hit. Then the suspects escaped in a dark colored Impala.
