Trucking company to offer scholarships

HOUSTON This year marks the fifth year Cat Lift Trucks has provided scholarship funds to outstanding students, which to date has totaled more than $33,000. Applicants for this year's scholarships must plan to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering or a business-related field at an accredited college, university or technical school in the State of Texas.

"At Cat Lift Trucks, we believe in providing the tools necessary for remarkable students to continue to pursue their educational dreams," said Kent Eudy, vice president of marketing for Cat Lift Trucks. "The Cat Lift Trucks scholarship program assists local students with their higher education pursuits and we are pleased to continue to provide this opportunity."

Cat Lift Trucks will award the academic scholarships to two exceptional high school seniors from public and/or private schools within Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller Counties. Recipients will be chosen based on academic record, leadership, honors, narrative responses and participation in school and community activities.

Outstanding seniors and scholarship winners from 2008 include Jonathan Evans, a graduate from Stratford High School, who is attending the University of Texas in Austin and John Gottfried, a graduate from Royal High School, who is attending Texas A&M University in College Station.

The deadline to receive applications is April 3, 2009. This year's recipients will be honored at the Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship Reception in May 2009.
