Clerk fights back against suspect

It all started around 1am at the gas station on Ella and Richey. Authorities say the suspect walked into the business and went towards the back of the store, picked up two packs of beer and then tried to walk out. But he couldn't get out the door.

"At the time, my clerk locked, via the magnetic lock, and he locked the door," said gas station owner Harry Patel. "The guy put the beer down and tried to kick the door. He kicked it maybe three to four times before he busted it and he ran out. At that time, when he was running out, my clerk shot him but I don't think he hit him."

It's unknown if the suspect was struck by the gunfire.

The owner of the store tells Eyewitness News he owns another gas station on Mount Houston, where a clerk shot and killed a suspected robber during a hold-up last May.
