Fishing opportunity in Conroe park

CONROE, TX The Carl Barton Jr. Park Pond will be stocked with 1,750 trout on January 13, 2009, according to the City of Conroe, Parks & Recreation Department.

Lauren Arnold, Parks Superintendent said, "Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the great fishing and all the benefits the park has to offer."

Effective September 1, 2008, an angler fishing in a Community Fishing Lake may use no more than two poles. Many trout stocking sites including Carl Barton Jr. Park pond are classified as CFL's.

For those interested in fishing in the park pond, certain rules apply that are listed below:

  • Bring your favorite fishing pole and some bait.
  • Must have a fishing license if you are over 17 years old, as all State of Texas fishing laws apply. To learn more about fishing license requirements please visit:

  • There is no minimum length limit; however the daily bag limit is 5.
