It happened around 11:15pm on West Montgomery and Willburforce in northeast Houston. The car was parked outside the owner's apartment. She and some friends were chatting while listening to the car radio. That's when they noticed the music fade and saw a man take off in the car.

Police were called and were tracking it using the car's On Star system. But before they could track it down using that, the owner's fiancé, who was on the phone with police, spotted the suspect go by in the stolen car.

They got into another vehicle and started following him. Officers eventually spotted the stolen car, as well, leading to a high speed chase.

At one point in time, speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour as the suspect weaved through several streets trying to escape. His run from the law ended when the front tire of the car blew out after witnesses say he flew over a railroad track on West Mount Houston at a high rate of speed.

"I'm glad this is over. I'm glad it ended in a safe way, where nobody got hurt, no damage really done," said Amos Smith, the car owner's fiance.

Smith says they have seen the suspect several times in the neighborhood, but doesn't know him.

Police say the suspect put up a big fight when officers tried to arrest him. They had to hog tie him to get him to stop resisting.
