Police in League City say a man was intentionally ramming vehicles on the Gulf Freeway, FM 528 and the Galveston Causeway Bridge overnight, sending six people to the hospital.

It all started around 11:30pm. A witness who saw one of the accidents followed the suspect and called police. That witness saw the driver cause several more accidents along the way.

The driver, identified as Toefield Coleman, Jr., eventually wrecked in Galveston and was taken into custody.

"He was traveling at a pretty set pace, according to what we've got so far. As I said, this is still an ongoing investigation. We're still getting information," said Sergeant David Hausam with the League City Police Department. "But most of the people he was hitting were simply in the way."

There was a total of five accidents with six people sustaining injuries. All six have been released from Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Police also said Coleman was holding his wife in the truck by force.

"The guy was driving down the road and at some point he decided he was just going to start striking vehicles. Until we get the full story from his wife, we're not going to know what this entailed," said Hausam.

Coleman is not talking and neither is his wife. She would only say there was some sort of family argument on Sunday.

Coleman is in custody in League City.
