Those officers will face a civil rights lawsuit filed by the family of Robert Meadours. In 2001, the La Porte officers responded to a domestic call at Meadours' home. He was in a back yard with a sharp metal object. Officers tried to subdue him, but they opened fire when Meadours lunged at them.
Meadours was killed. A grand jury later decided not to file any criminal charges against the officers.
