Teens injured when car hits tree

A teenage driver sent himself and others to the hospital after an accident in southeast Houston overnight. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

Police say the driver of a car was going about 80 miles per hour on Bonner near Neal when he lost control and went right into a tree. A friend of the teens who witnessed the accident says it was scary to see his friends suffering.

"When I saw them, they were trapped," said Israel Torres. "They couldn't get out, but me and my family, the whole neighborhood, we tried to help them out."

Heavy rescue eventually showed up and cut the teens out of the car. They are now in the hospital in serious, but stable condition.
