RECIPE: Pecan toffee crunch

A delicious holiday candy for just a few cents on the dollar of what you buy in the store. State Fair Candy Champ, Stan Rogers, or Stan the Candy Man as we like to call him, shows us a delicious treat to make cheap and it all starts with simple ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup of karo syrup
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 3 sticks of margarine
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of pecans
  • 2/3 cups of chocolate chips
  • pecan sprinkles
  • DIRECTIONS:

  • melt down the karo, one stick of butter and the 3-sticks of margarine.
  • when it's all melted down, then add the sugar
  • in about ten to fifteen minutes, the mixture will thicken (about 290 degrees)
  • then, you stir in the pecans and re-heat the mixture back to 290 before you pour the mixture in the pan.
  • pour it on a pan and spread it out.
  • while its hot, add the chocolate chips on top -- spread it out as it melts
  • top it off with the pecan sprinkles and put it in the fridge
  • once it hardens, it's done.
