The six-year-old boy walked out of class at Benbrook Elementary School. According to Principal Dana Darden, the teacher saw the boy attempting to leave and told him to stop. He continued into the hall, blended into a group of students and disappeared.

The teacher immediately alerted the school office and a search of the campus was initiated. When the student was not found, HISD Police were notified and school personnel got in their cars and began searching the neighborhood.

The student was found unharmed about 40 minutes later, five blocks from the school. It is believed that he was trying to walk home.
