Nowak is accused of attacking Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman at an Orlando airport in 2007. Shipman was dating Nowak's love interest, astronaut Bill Oefelein. Judges ruled police had authority to search Nowak's car, where they found maps, directions to Shipman's home, a wig, trench coat, trash bags and a knife.

Nowak is charged with attempted kidnapping, burglary, assault and misdemeanor battery. She is currently working for the Navy in Corpus Christi.
