The unidentified men were in a vehicle near a mechanic shop in the parking lot of Sharpstown Mall in southwest Houston at around 2:15 p.m. when they were shot, said Houston police spokesman Victor Senties.

One man was shot in the head and one possibly in the chest. They were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital but their conditions were not immediately known. However, their injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, Senties said.

Police were investigating the shootings as possibly an attempted carjacking, he said.
