HISD looks to cut bus routes to magnet schools

Right now the district spends more than $16 million on that transportation, and spends more than a million dollars less each year on magnet programs. The biggest cost, the district says, comes from busing students more than ten miles away from their campus.

"We've got kids going all over the district and it's become a huge amount of money," said HISD spokesperson Norm Uhl.

HISD wants some public input. It's holding a series of meetings starting Thursday night at Westbury High School.
