Battleship Texas veterans return to ship

October 19, 2008 4:00:39 PM PDT
Veterans who served aboard the Battleship Texas recalled some of their fondest memories. A reunion was held yesterday where they laid a wreath and rang a bell to remember their fallen shipmates. The veterans say that living in such close quarters during World War II made them feel like they were part of one big family.

George McGrath, who served on the ship as a machinist mate from 1944 to 1946, talks about his time during the war in the above video.

The battleship sustained minor damage during Hurricane Ike and reopened to the public just last weekend.
