The boy was detained Sept. 19 and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place, a 3rd degree felony. Police are investigating allegations that the teen was trying to sell the gun.
Defense attorney Lance Larison of Longview told The Associated Press that the boy faces a detention hearing Monday.
Larison says his client has no prior juvenile arrests or disciplinary problems at school.
Larison says the family's focus now is moving forward and helping their son with both the criminal accusation and his future.
