Man accused of looting evacuee's home

On Tuesday September 23, 2008, an anonymous informant called the Crime Stoppers Tip Line and provided information that on Saturday, September 13, Christopher David Gomez had burglarized a neighbor's home in the 500 block of North Eastwood after the neighbor fled Hurricane Ike.

The Crime Stoppers officer verified that a burglary had been reported on that date at the neighbor's address, and forwarded the information to the Houston Police Department's Southeast burglary and theft unit.

Police told Crime Stoppers that Christopher Gomez was found to be in possession of stolen property from the burglary. He was arrested Wednesday, September 24 and charged with burglary of a habitation in the 183rd District Court. Gomez is currently in the Harris County jail under a $20,000 bond.
