Boy allegedly offered loaded gun at school

KILGORE, TX A judge Monday ordered the 15-year-old to remain in juvenile custody for 10 days. His identity was not released due to his age.

Police say the boy was detained Friday at Kilgore High School and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place, a 3rd degree felony.

Supt. Jody Clements told The Associated Press that another student reported the sophomore had a .22-caliber gun on campus and was "shopping it around."

Clements says the gun was found in the bathroom of a shop building, wrapped in a towel and hidden in the ceiling. Nobody was hurt.

Police are trying to determine who owns the gun.

A juvenile probation official told AP there was no attorney of record yet for the boy, who has been suspended from school.
