Another vital part of the community that could use help is the Houston Food Bank. It's in need of donations of food, money and even time.

On a normal day, the Food Bank sends out about 150,000 pounds of food. Since Ike, that number has increased to about 750,000 pounds. Yesterday, Senator John Cornyn and his wife volunteered some time.

"They need more volunteers. They're pushing out more food every day than they do on a regular basis," said Senator Cornyn.

Volunteers are welcome from 8am to 6pm every day at the Food Bank. It is located off the Eastex Freeway near Cavalcade.
