BELFORD ROXO, BRAZIL There are candidates named Barack Obama in at least eight local elections in Brazil.

Due to a quirk in Brazilian law, candidates can run under any name they want on the ballot -- as long as it's not offensive.

The Democratic presidential candidate is hugely popular in Brazil. And some local politicians hope to ride his long-distance coattails into office.
